Applying for a place at Queen Elizabeth's
All applications will be carefully considered on receipt of a completed Application Form (which can be found in the back of the booklet "Additional Information 2009-10" in the prospectus pack, or downloaded by clicking here) and payment of the Registration Fee.
Entry to school is normally in September at the start of the academic year, though admission at other times may be possible, subject to places being available. The offer of a place will depend upon satisfactory reports being received from the applicant's present school and satisfactory performance in the relevant assessment tests, outlined below:
Early Years:
Boys and girls applying to enter Foundation stage, Year 1, or Year 2 will be invited by the Head of Early Years for an informal interview and assessment. Though Early Years class sizes will remain small (optimum number 20), places may be available for entry during the school year: please enquire by telephone or e-mail to check the latest position.
Junior School:
Entrance tests for boys and girls wishing to enter at ages 7+, 8+, 9+ and 10+ (Years 3 to 6) will be arranged periodically according to demand and will take place on a school day. Places may be available in certain year groups for entry during the school year: parents are welcome to enquire by telephone or email to check the latest position regarding availability.
Senior School:
The main Senior School Entrance Examination for candidates wishing to enter Year 7 (age 11+) in September 2010 took place on Saturday 7 November 2009 and there was also a Supplementary Entrance Exam on Saturday 6 February 2010. We continue to welcome applications at any time and acknowledge them on receipt. We will also be happy to advise on whether places are available in individual year groups. As part of the normal admissions process, candidates and their parent/s or guardians will be invited for interview by the Headmaster before the offer of a place is made. Please telephone or email for further details (click the "contact us" button on the left).
Sixth Form:
Candidates who apply to enter Sixth Form will be invited for an interview with the Headmaster. The offer of a place will then be made, subject to a satisfactory report being received from their present school, and the attainment of the GCSE grades needed to embark on AS/A2 Level courses (a minimum of five GCSE passes at Grade B is the normal requirement). QEGS is delighted to be able to offer an Ogden Trust Sixth Form Science Scholarship to a student joining from a state school and the Blakey Sixth Form Languages Scholarship to a student wishing to take one or more modern languages (including English) at A level and beyond. Details of the scholarships available to those entering in September 2010 are given in the "Fees" section of this website.
