Links with maintained schools

The school has a number of links with schools in the maintained sector.  One of the most exciting recent developments has been the Maths Partnership forged with Pleckgate High School Mathematics and Computing College in Blackburn.

Under this partnership, pupils from both schools get together on a regular basis to share ideas and tackle mathematical challenges, both inside and outside the classroom.  They have also taken part in a video conference link-up in which they discussed issues relating to maths with academics in Cambridge and with other schools in Cheshire, Kent and even Karachi, Pakistan.

Another feature of the links between QEGS and local mLinks maintained schools 2aintained schools is at primary level, where each year up to ten primary schools are invited to bring their Year 5 classes to West Park Road for an Arts, Science and Technology Morning.  The pupils who visit have the chance to see first-hand what life in a senior school is like, as well as experiencing sample lessons in subjects such as Classics, Design Technology, History and Chemistry, in which the experiments they carry out never fail to amaze the visiting boys and girls.
