Pastoral

The pastoral system is an exceptionally strong feature in a school which excels in the care that it takes for its pupils’ welfare. In addition to the Deputy Head in charge of pastoral care, the heads of year and the form tutors, responsibility is further devolved to the Head of Complementary Studies and the School Nurse. All those involved with year groups have access to excellent documentation, including year handbooks dealing with achievement and care, produced by the school and regularly updated. Pupils are conscious of the school’s emphasis on pastoral care and parents are very supportive.

The school’s system of pastoral care was specifically commended in the report of the ISI inspectors who visited the school in 2005.

The school publishes and regularly updates a set of School Rules - click the link to view these.

The school rules include information on school uniform, for which the school's official supplier is Grays Schoolwear in Blackburn.  Grays has two shops - the one on Northgate (opposite King George's Hall) covers all school uniform requirements, but the shop on Penny Street (opposite Morrison's) also stocks senior school uniforms and can assist with business suits and other items under the Sixth Form dress code.
